Eligibility

Who can apply?  Non-profits, schools, government entities including towns, cities, and counties within the North Alabama Trails & Recreation service area. If you are a club or group, you can partner with a non-profit who can apply on your behalf.

What is the NATR Service Area? We serve the following counties: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, and Winston.

What projects can be funded? Any project that aids in the planning, maintenance, improvement, creation, or promotion of outdoor recreation infrastructure, services, or programming is eligible to be funded.

What outdoor activities are supported? Any project that supports hiking, biking, paddling, rock climbing, horseback riding, birdwatching, off-roading (atv/ohv), camping, caving, etc. is eligible to be funded.

Grant Amount

How much should I ask for? For Fiscal Year 2024, NATR is able to provide several grants at $5,000* each. When filling the application, please make sure the Total Request from NATR is $5,000.

*Grant funds are distributed as reimbursements after project completion.

Grant Timeline

Cycle Closes: September 29th, 2023

Awards Announced: October 30th, 2023

Project Completion by: August 1, 2024*

Please ensure that your project can be completed by August 1st, 2024 before applying.
